Pomona Farming Appoints Derek DeGroot as New Chief Operating Officer

DeGroot holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Pennsylvania State University’s Smeal College of Business, specializing in Supply Chain Management and Corporate Finance. He also graduated with high honors from the University of California Davis, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with a minor in Statistics.
Having most recently served as the Director of Dairy Procurement and Supply Chain at Hilmar Cheese Company, Inc., DeGroot showcased his exceptional leadership skills by successfully managing teams, overseeing a multimillion-dollar budget, and implementing strategic initiatives that drove cost reduction, supply optimization, and product quality improvement.
Throughout his career, DeGroot has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to sustainability and innovation, making significant contributions to his previous company’s procurement, supply chain, and financial operations. His accomplishments include effectively managing multi-million-dollar budgets, implementing cost-saving strategies, optimizing supplier relationships, and leading key initiatives such as greenfield manufacturing site selection and SAP implementation. Moreover, he has actively participated in industry committees and boards, advocating for economic policies, and driving positive change within the dairy industry.
